Kiwi Power! 21/05/2011

Supporters for Luxembourg: by the hundreds! For Russia: almost as many! But who expected a 50-strong contingent from as far away as New Zealand? Well, they are proabably not all Kiwis, some of them could well be Italians too. In any case, they are all wearing a green shirt to express their support for couple # 25, Stefan and Adriana, representing the island downunder. Go New Zealand.

About To Start In Earnest ... 21/05/2011

Come On In! Tell A Friend!

Alexey Silde - Anna Firstova, RUS © Rob Ronda At 20:45 - maybe a little later - the semi-final starts at the Atert Sports Centre in the small community of Bertrange, about 5 km west of the capital, Luxembourg City. The venue is packed to the last seat and the atmosphere excellent. And the DanceSport is of the highest calibre. But traffic to this blog is somewhat below the benchmarks we have been able to establish with our reporting from Marseille, FRA, on the 2011 European Latin. Tell a friend we are on live! Put a message up on facebook, get the people to this blog.

Thanks!

Finally, The First Two 21/05/2011

Several other adjustments were needed to bring you these clips ... We lowered the resolution even more - due to limited bandwidth, it took forever to upload - and now we are able to show you the first two with round one action.

Still Waiting! 21/05/2011

We got some nice shots of the couples just prior to round one. And to buy some time ...

The Haka 21/05/2011

Haka by All Blacks "Maybe I should do the Haka prior to round one," Stefan Green, NZL, was overheard as saying. The New Zealander who moved to Italy at age 19 could probably do the traditional Maori dance as well as the All Blacks, the national rugby team. It is performed by them and other national sports teams from New Zealand for one reason: intimidation of the opponents.

Stefan Green - Adriana Sigona, ITA © Rob Ronda In the end, Stefan refrained from threatening poses and gestures towards the other couples. He simply danced the same five dances as they did. And now we are waiting for them to be processed by our editor. The resolution will be okay, but High Definition clips will have to wait until tommorrow.

Modus Operandi 21/05/2011

Speed Test As you are probably aware of, we are not live LIVE as we were from Sant Cugat, with a live video stream from the venue, we are "nearly real-time coverage" LIVE as we were for most of our previous blogs.

While technically possible - and easier for us - a live stream with the bandwidth we have available here at the Atert Sports Centre would not be of sufficient quality. So expect short edited clips to be uploaded right after every round.
