The Latest Scoop From Tokyo

Team Germany - still at it! We could pretend that Team Germany, the one depicted in our pervious post as well as on the left, is still at it, preparing for tomorrow on the floor of the Tokyo Gymnasium. Truth is, they are not and have probably retired to the Tokyo Hyatt Regency where everyone is staying. And where we will be heading too, just as soon as we have published this last-minute update on matters still pending.

In reply to the comments made by The German and AB regarding the "star" couples, we wish to inform of the following.

As often in life, it all boils down to a simple clerical error. The wrong World Ranking list was used  to compile the "star" couples in the earlier posts (way, way down by now - to get to them you need to be an expert scroller). Both comments reflect what is fact. World Ranking in effect for the amended list is the one of 1 January 2012. There may have been some couples included initially that will have to dance the first round.

Regarding the comment made by RD (also down, but not as far), we confirm that a LIVE (and we mean "real LIVE") stream will be made available of the semi-finals and finals tomorrow. Actually, the signal will be going out for the Opening Ceremony already (from 16:30 JST - which is UTC - 9 hours). After all technical problems have been overcome thanks to the very flexible organisers, you will be able to follow it all here and on our YouTube channel DanceSport Total. Check the schedule close to the bottom of the blog for exact times of the last rounds!

Last but not least, we wish to remind YOU once more that ...

The Japan Red Cross Society has extended the donation period through 30 September 2012. Click here!
