"La grande dame" of the Lithuanian Formation DanceSport, Skaiste Idzeleviciene, can finally put all her worries aside. One of her Zuvedra teams managed to take advantage of the home field advantage and won the title ahead of Vera Tiumen, RUS, and Grün-Gold-Club Bremen, GER.
To say that it was against all odds - or a surprise win for that matter - does not do much justice to what certainly is one of the longer standing traditions that the home team (almost) always wins.

The formations taking part in the 2013 WDSF European DanceSport Championship Latin Formation have concluded their rehearsals at the Siemens Arena.
Between last evening and this morning, each formation had 20 minutes assigned to get its references on the floor established and to go through the routine one last time prior to round one.
Participation in the 2013 European Latin Formation is down slightly from last year (Vienna, AUT). The Czech Republic and Serbia don't field a team in this year's championship in Vilnius, LTU. Whatever the reason for their absence, Formation DanceSport has traditionally been a domain of a relatively small number of nations - and almost exclusively European nations at that. Mongolia being the much appreciated exception as of lately!
Maybe the fact that Formation DanceSport features prominently in the WDSF World DanceSport Games 2013 Kaohsiung will give the discipline much needed exposure on the global level - and ultimately induce some teams from other countries to start training for world and continental championships from 2014.
