Even though it was the GrandSlam leg with the lowest participation in recent times - only 47 couples in Standard and 53 in Latin - it was raking in impressive numbers in virtually all other areas.
The traffic to the "Live from Tallinn, EST" blog was decidedly higher than for the first GrandSlam in 2013. In excess of 20,000 unique visitors were recorded on Sunday 23 February alone.
When it comes to the WDSF YouTube channel DanceSport Total, the numbers are even more impressive: nearly 120,000 video views on a single day - on 23 February - establish a new benchmark for GrandSlam coverage.
Between all of you - the couples dancing in Tallinn, the followers of our blog and the viewers on our YouTube channel - you made this happen ... Thanks!
Even if this blog will get archived soon, it will remain active for several more days. All videos will eventually get posted here too (once they're labelled).
The story of the two GrandSlam events here in Tallinn, EST, is far from being told. On the one hand there are in excess of 100 videos already online. Even if some of them are not yet properlery labelled and posted on this blog, they are available for viewing from the WDSF YouTube channel DanceSport Total ("Recent Videos").
There are some videos still to get uploaded, among them the Standard and Latin semi-final reels. And there are two television highlights in the pipelines. They will cover the finals with a multi-camera production and will shortly be available for broadcasting in different countries around the world.
There is much to be done over the coming days. One is doing whatever it is our programmers do to their codes so that the full results of the two Tallinn GrandSlams will be online ASAP.
Hundreds of photographs by Helmut Roland and our correspondents have been/will be added to the media gallery of this website. Stay tuned! Work is in progress ...
On Saturday we wondered ahead of the GrandSlam Standard here in Tallinn, "Where are Emanuel and Tania?" Now we know exactly where they were.
Tania Kehlet and Emanuel Valeri topped golfers and footballers in a vote for the "Best Sporting Performance of 2013" award. Obviously they had to stay back in Denmark to pick it up! Well done!
The award was presented in an Oscar-like "And the winner is ..." show on Danish TV.
Once you are a high-profile athlete, you will have to bear all the consequences. At six a.m. this morning, Tania and Emanuel had a very special wake-up call from the Danish anti-doping authorities.
"Anti-doping test at 6 a.m. - the backside of the coin," the couple posted on its facebook page just now.
Aniello Langella - Khrystyna Moshenska, ITA, dance the Paso Doble in the final of the 2014 WDSF GrandSlam Latin in Tallinn, EST, on 23 February.
Nino and Khrystyna scored 39.86 on their Paso Doble. "This was the best Paso Doble I have danced in my life," Nino claims. 11 out of the 12 Adjudicators awarded it with a perfect 10.00.
Some of the other videos were uploaded to the WDSF YouTube channel DanceSport Total tonight. Look under "Recent Videos" ... More will follow tomorrow!
