It was exactly one year ago that 736 athletes representing 49 nations had gathered in Kaohsiung, TPE, to compete in the inaugural edition of the WDSF World DanceSport Games. It proved to be a watershed event that united - for the first time ever - all the different disciplines falling under the most generic DanceSport brand.
As WDSF commemorates the occasion with the release of 'Do your dance,' the official documentary on the games held in Taiwan, it also looks ahead with a short but powerful reel. 'Bidding for the World DanceSport Games' provides cities interested in organising future editions of the WDSF World DanceSport Games with very useful information. The 6-minute reel was produced with footage of the games in Kaohsiung and it is narrated by Alex Warner.
Flash interviews with the three couples that made it to the podium in the 2014 WDSF GrandSlam Standard Wuhan on 14 September: Simone Segatori - Annette Sudol, GER; Dmitry Zharkov - Olga Kulikova, RUS; Evaldas Sodeika - Ieva Zukauskaite, LTU.
Competition brings out the best in them - and these couples know it. We can't wait for the competition to continue in Moscow on 24 October. And neither can they!
Again as a special feature add-on: super slow-motion footage!
We have received many enquiries from the viewers on YouTube as to where and when the videos of the decisive stages of the GrandSlam Wuhan will become available. And we're glad they are asking.
WDSF releases the 90-minute programmmes covering the semi-final and final in Latin and Standard through its video-on-demand service on Vimeo from 24 October. Much more work will need to be done until then: the edit on the background pieces and the post-event interviews, the voice-over on the final.
At the modest rate of US$ 2.95 for a 72-hour rental period, you get to enjoy a superb HD production (8 cameras) of the very best DanceSport that is available anywhere.
This blog is winding down with the final pieces of information coming your way after our return to Europe tomorrow morning.
But this will by no means be the last you will hear of us in the near future. In fact, two separate Communications teams will set out almost immediately and travel to Chengdu, CHN, as well as to Brasov, ROU, to bring you coverage on the following
events over the upcoming weekend.
Through the posts of this blog you should be able to relive a good part of the 2014 GrandSlam Wuhan that was held on 13 and 14 September. 60 videos, some 300 photographs and full results provide you with a fairly good idea of what went on at the Wuhan Sports Centre arena, a truly magnificent venue and one everybody looks forward to return to in April of next year.
The exhaustively complete story on the 2014 GrandSlam in Wuhan will become available in ten days' time, when WDSF releases the 90-minute programmmes covering the semi-final and final in Latin and Standard through its video-on-demand service on Vimeo.

The 2014 GrandSlam Standard Wuhan final lived up to the highest expectations of all those who appreciate DanceSport performed as close to perfection as is achievable, those who rally for their favourite couple, and those who generally appreciate a tight fight on the floor. Last night's final had it all.
Maybe the scores weren't as high as one month ago in Stuttgart, but the winners saw three 10s going up after three different dances. Cheering was very liberally dispensed by spectators who seemed to support all finalists in a fairly equitable ratio. And when the smoke of the battle had dispersed after the fifth dance, a Quickstep, the margin of victory was a mere 1.27 points ... Look at the final results here!
Our congratulations go to the winners, the runners-up and the other finalists who made this GrandSlam another showcase for the brand of DanceSport that WDSF stands for. And we can't wait to see all couples return to the floor during the last regular leg of the 2014 Series: see you in Moscow on 24 October ...

I am sorry but I won't purchase any of the finals via VIMEO for as long as the viewing window is restricted to a short period of time.

We have increased the rental period from 24 to 72 hours already and will shortly conduct an online survey among those who have watched our VOD coverage until now. One question concerns this matter. We'll consider your input too.
