Three couples that had intended to enter this 2017 World Standard had to be disqualified from doing so for not meeting the requirements to represent a country under WDSF Rules. 71 couples danced the first round today. 74 entries would have tied last year's participation in the Aarhus, DEN, World Championship.
The matter is still under investigation, but it is confirmed that all three couples failed in having at least one of the two partners holding a passport of the country they pretended to represent. Not only does this reflect badly upon the dancers, it also puts the sincerity of their national governing body in question. More on this later.
