The last day of the five-day event in Stuttgart will be highlighted with the anticipated final of the fourth leg of the 2019 WDSF GrandSlam Series Latin. There are 232 couples on the preliminary starting list, updated on August 6th. The first round will start on Friday afternoon, and the one-star and two-star couples will join the qualified couples for the next rounds on Saturday afternoon.
Last year the event ended with standing ovations as the two German favourites, Marius-Andrei Balan – Khrystyna Moshenska and Timur Imametdinov – Nina Bezzubova nailed every single performance they put on. Both couples have been consistent during the previous three legs of the Series, and they will surely have a very warm welcome on Saturday afternoon as they enter the centre stage in front of the loud and appreciative home crowd.
Out of the most recent finalists we are happy see Andrey Gusev – Vera Bondareva (RUS) and Andrea Silvestri – Martina Varadi (HUN) back on the starting list. They both skipped the third leg of the Series in Rimini in July. Guillem Pascual – Rosa Carne (ESP), who ranked seventh and just barely outside the final in the European Championship, are also competing on Saturday after missing the previous two GrandSlams.
From the other perspective, just like in GrandSlam Standard the day before, only a few top 24 couples are missing the Stuttgart leg. Naturally, the most missed couple will be Armen Tsaturyan – Svetlana Gudyno (RUS), a couple who has been dominating the Latin dancing scene for a couple of years. The Italians Vito Coppola – Oona Oinas, who have been securing their position inside the GrandSlam semifinal during the previous two legs of the Series and the European Championship in May are also skipping the event in Stuttgart.
DanceSportTotal.com will livestream the decisive stages of the GrandSlam Latin on Saturday, August 17th. The quarterfinal is scheduled to begin at 17:20 CET, the semifinal at 20:10 CET and the final at 21:40 CET. Chapter four of the journal of the 2019 WDSF GrandSlam Series Latin is ready to be written!
