The organisers of the Ashdod Open Championships to be held in Israel's sixth-largest city had to give in to the pressures caused by the volatility of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that went into effect today.
WDSF Sports Director Marco Sietas spoke to Boris Odikadze, the chairman of the Ashdod Organising Committee and the President of the Israel DanceSport Associatio, earlier today. Between them, they have agreed that the cancellation of the Open Championships would be the only option in order to guarantee the safety of the participants.
All events scheduled as part of the Ashdod Open Championships on 8 and 9 December are therefore cancelled. The 2012 WDSF PD World Championships Showdance are also cancelled or postponed "sine diem."
