Birmingham 22/01/2015

Birmingham Birmingham, Alabama, USA, will host The World Games 2021, it was announced today.

The city was chosen over Lima, PER, and Ufa, RUS, by the International World Games Association (IWGA) Executive Board following final presentations at the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne, SUI.

WDSF First Vice President Lukas Hinder is a  member of the IWGA executive. He commented on the selection immediately following the announcement. "We had three excellent bids presented to us," Hinder said. "And we were able to identify the very best thanks to the thorough and transparent bid evaluation process that the IWGA has in place."

It will be the first time since the inaugural World Games in 1981 that the USA hosts the event. Santa Clara, California, was the Host City then.
