Change of Dates 17/12/2014

The World Games 2017 Wroclaw, POL José Perurena, the President of the International World Games Association (IWGA), notified the International Federations with sports on the programme of the upcoming edition of The World Games that their dates would likely be moved forward by two weeks.

The Wroclaw Organising Committee (WOC) approached the IWGA board with a formal request for a change of dates for the games in 2017. Instead of the previously announced period from 03 to 13 August, WOC asked to bring The World Games 2017 forward to 20 – 30 July.

"The main arguments for these new dates are the prevention of conflicts of dates with other major events, especially with the IAAF World Athletics Championships," Perurena writes in his letter of 15 December," and the advantage to be gained from having better media coverage. The board discussed this request, and after consultation with its media and marketing partners came to the conclusion that the new dates would indeed be better. We intend therefore to accept the WOC’s request."
