Every Week on Euronews 03/02/2015

Bremen, GER - 6 December © Roland A powerful global showcase for all sports launched on 29 January 2015. Sports United, a weekly magazine for all Olympic and non-Olympic sports under the SportAccord umbrella, went on-air on Euronews, the largest news channel in Europe. Henceforth, the 10-minute show will go on-air every Thursday evening and will run in a cyclical manner till Friday afternoon, showcasing a variety of sports.

Speaking about the launch of the show, SportAccord president, Marius L. Vizer said, “SportAccord, in partnership with the international sports federations, has been able to make an exceptional beginning with Sports United. 92 international sports will get an equal chance to utilise a common platform for visibility. We are thankful to Euronews for being our partners in this endeavour and look forward to a great partnership to ensure that a well-defined product reaches out to sports fans globally to provide information and power aspirations. I have to point out that none of this would be possible without the encouragement and participation of the primary players- the international sports federations.”

The show was announced during the last edition of the IF Forum in Lausanne in November 2014 and remarking on the launch of the first edition, Euronews CEO, Michael Peters said, “The project is born out of the idea of bringing a broad scope of sport-news to our international audience. The global approach of ‘Sports United’ is unique and we believe that our new weekly rendez-vous will soon become a “must” for sport-lovers the world over. SportAccord and Euronews share the same values of neutrality, accountability, and education. Also, at Euronews, a team of 400 journalists of 35 nationalities comes together to produce reliable journalism. Like in Sports, we live this power to unite.”

Sports United, as the name suggests will be a showcase for all sports to present news, features, interviews and insights from their events and beyond to a captive Euronews audience spread across 415 million households in 156 countries across the world. The show will be composed of six segments, expanding the editorial canvas of the show and will be broadcast in 13 languages.
