The WDSF PF 2017 World Cup Standard was danced in Kharkiv, UKR, on 4 March. 13 couples representing eight nations took to the floor. Among them were the former PD World Champions Benedetto Ferruggia and Claudia Koehler, GER.

They seem determined to get back into the swing of things after they danced only five competitions in all of 2016, staying away from the European as well as the World Championship. Maybe because they have been entered into the Standard event at The World Games this summer, where they will be able to defend a title won in 2013 Cali, we will see them competing more in 2017.

Below is a video that the Kharkiv organisers have provided with impressions of Saturday's World Cup. And here are a few bullet points on the event that Verena Sulek, the Director of the Professional Division, has provided:

  • The PD World Cup STD in Kharkiv opened the season of PD Championships and Cups in 2017.
  • It was very well organised with the participation of the top PD couples.
  • These couples are now treavelling to Tokyo to dance the first ever PD Super GrandPrix in Japan during the Tokyo Open on 12 March. As many as 38 entries from 11 countries are expected.
