Avatar IDSF European Championship Ten Dance 2009

Szombathely hosted the IDSF European Ten Dance Championship 2009. This Hungarian town is famous and well known for its traditional Dance events, such as the Savaria International Dance Festival. This year the 44th Dance Festival took place in the AGORA Sports hall.

The European Championship was held on Saturday, June 6th, and couples representing 31 European countries performed in a Rumba in the opening ceremony.

The Evening Gala was a great mixture of excellent high level DanceSport and a demonstration of various different Dance styles like Hip Hop, Rock n`Roll and Argentine Tango. Hungary and especially Savaria Szombathely proved its tradition in Formation Dancing. Young couples performed to Abba`s Music theme “ Mamma Mia”, as well as a Standard team “Broadway”. The audience also enjoyed the violine music from Edvin Marton and as a special highlight the show of Michael Malitowski and Joanna Leunis.

During all the Rounds up to the Final everybody in the hall could feel the thrilling atmosphere. Who is going to make the Final, who is going to win ? There was a big change in the Ten Dance scene since 2008 : splits, new partnerships, the title vacant.

All the couples came well prepared for this event, ambitious to make the Final, supported by their friends and families.

In the end Timur Imametdinov and Ekatarina Nikolaeva from Russia were the new European Champions . They showed a perfect performance in Latin and great improvement in the Standard Dances.

In 2nd place came Björn Bitch and Ashli Williamson from Denmark: most ambitious and positive.

In 3rd position finished Csaba Laszlo and Anna Mikes from Hungary, a real Ten Dance couple with great improvement in both sections. They had been well prepared for the moment, supported by their enthusiastic friends.

4th Luca Bussoletti and Tjasa Vulic from Slovenia, sensitve and of great musicality in Standard.

5th Anton Skuratov and Alena Uehlin, Germany. This young couple gave its first performance in a Ten Dance Championship Adults and already made the Final.

In 6th place Martin Dvorak and Zuzana Silhanova, Czech Republic.

Congratulation to all of them for making the Final in such a great competition !
