Presidium's Motion

Whereas it is appropriate and convenient ...

... to change our name, the Presidium moved to amend article 1.1 of the IDSF Statutes.

The name of the federation shall be "World DanceSport Federation" or "WDSF" …

On 19 June, the IDSF General Assembly in Luxembourg will vote on adopting the new name, on substituting “International” with “World” – and on conveying a decidedly more affirmative interpretation of what constitutes DanceSport.

Reasons for the change have been explained at length in the VISION 2012 papers circulated since 2007. The clips below should help to visualise the rationale too!

The World Games 2009 saw Latin, Rock 'n' Roll and Standard competition feature alongside each other. It was certainly not the first time, but on this occasion a truly unified brand DanceSport was portrayed to the public at large. And it convinced the WORLD!

A Single Brand!
