The Standard World Meets in Aarhus, DEN 09/11/2016

When the Aarhus organisers proposed to host the two World Championships almost concurrently at the same venue, they emphasised the significant economy of scale and some other synergies that this would bring about. The costs for the television production, for instance, could be divided between both and reduced considerably by taking this approach.

The same could be made to apply to other areas too: panels of adjudicators, judging system, etc.

Having more of the world's best dancers all in one place makes for an even bigger "bang" in Aarhus. One will need to be careful, however, that neither of the two World Championships eclipses the other. Something that would happen almost automatically, if the term "AMATEUR" would still be used to make a distinction between dancers who have the same commitment to excellence and an identical approach to achieve it. Maybe it's a matter of style?

We should find out on Friday and Saturday! Good thing that we have the top contenders in the Professional Division all present for a change. Well, we did in Stuttgart for the 2016 Super GrandPrix. But the last time that happened in a championships was in Copenhagen, DEN, in March of 2015.
