IDSF European DanceSport Championship Sta 04/04/2010

Ferruggia - Koehler, GER During the 4 days Dance Festival „DancefoRUm 2010” the IDSF European DanceSport Championship Standard was held in Moskau, Luzhniky Stadium. This event, organised by Galina and Valery Gulay and the Moscow DanceSport Federation, brings couples of all age categories and disciplines to Moscow. The organising team did all their efforts to give a warm welcome to all the couples.

One special event is a team match called “International Teammatch of capital cities”. Was it mainly Russian Teams in the last years, so the participants changed this year : Ukraine, Latvia, Poland, France and Russia sent their mixed teams – Adults and Youth – to Moscow. Winner of this competition was the Team of Moscow.

On Saturday, April 3rd, the Standard Championship was the main event. 55 couples entered and danced their first qualifying round. Because of the same amount of marks there were brought 50 couples back to the 2nd round. The same situation was to be seen through the whole competition : 27 couples in the quarterfinal, 15 in the semifinal.

Final result in the final :

1 . and European Champions : Benedetto Ferruggia -  Claudia Koehler, GER

2.  Andrea Ghiggiarelli – Sara Andracchio, ITA

3.  Sergei Konovaltsev – Olga Konovaltseva, RUS

4.  Emanuel Valeri – Tania Kehlet, DEN

5.  Simone Segatori – Annette Sudol, GER

6.  Marek Kosaty – Paulina Glazik, POL

Benedetto and Claudia showed excellent dancing, highly motivated they won all five dances. Standing ovations and congratulations of the audience proved that this couple well deserved to be Champion.

But looking to the other faces it seemed that there was only one more couple which was satisfied with the result. The couple from Poland, Marek Kosaty and Paulina Glazik, showed a very good performance throughout the competition and were happy to dance in this Championship Final.

To all the other places there were a lot of discussions. I would like to say – as always.

Further comments will follow in the next days.
