And the third current World Champions who will take to the floor for round one of the Grand Slam Final Standard at 19:10 CET today: Simone Segatori - Annette Sudol! They won the inaugural edition of the WDSF World Freestyle Standard in Beijing, CHN. Interviewed earlier today by Helmut Roland.
Helmut Roland interviews the other Danish couple dancing in tonight's final: Bjoern Bitsch - Ashli Williamson. They are World Champions too: in Ten Dance and for two times running ... Danish Dynamite - double charge!
Prior to tonight's Grand Slam Final Standard, Helmut Roland asked the current World Champions Standard about the new WDSF Judging System that will be used to adjudicate the top six couples in the final.
One of the teams contesting the title of World Latin Formation Champion today in Vilnius, LTU, performed its entire choreography last weekend in Braunschweig, GER, to the acclaim of the public at the World Standard Formation. Prof Roland was on site and caught Gruen-Gold-Club Bremen, team Germany I, in action.
We hope that our colleague Sergejus will be able to forward recordings of some of today's performances too. The semi-final and final are scheduled - almost concurrently with the first round of the Grand Slam Standard Final - from 19:00.
WDSF Communications has just established contact with the organisers of the 2011 World Latin Formation held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, today.
Sergejus has sent us the starting list and advises that round one will commence at 13:00 h.
Throughout the day he will provide us with results, photos and even videos. One blog, two major DanceSport events!

And the next team came down: Denmark I, Emanuel Valeri and Tania Kehlet, are sitting down in our makeshift studio in the lobby of the Hotel Sol Costa Daurada ... What will our host, Prof. Helmut Roland, ask the two World Champions? Check back here later and find out!
As they speak! Annette Sudol and Simone Segatori have come down to the lobby. Interview is in progress!
Another day in Salout at the Costa Daurada, Catalonia, Spain ... Temperature is a nice 15º C already, forecast splendid for the rest of the day, even the entire weekend.
With another eight hours to go until the start of the Grand Slam Standard, we're at the hotel where all the couples are staying and wait for them to do the first interviews with us.
Alernatively, we could go for a swim ...
Here we had all exptected to get a front row seat to a rematch between two World Champion couples, to see the champions of 2010 take on those of 2011 in an attempt to end the year on a high note after losing their title in Moscow.
It is official: this will definitely not happen in tomorrow's Grand Slam Final Standard. While the details are still sketchy, the Spanish organisers have been informed by the German DanceSport Federation DTV that the defending Grand Slam Champions, Benedetto Ferruggia and Claudia Koehler, had to withdraw at the very last moment.
Looking at the bright side: we (and you) will still have the front row seat to excellent Standard performances by the other couples tomorrow ... And our WDSF Communications team member Helmut Roland has come up with some unpublished pictures of Benedetto and Claudia taken at the German Championship in Nuremberg last month. In absentia, ....
The WDSF Communications team has arrived in Salou and at the Municipal Sports Hall. The XIII Spanish Open is already underway. It got off to a flying start at 17:00 with a Rising Star Open Latin and nearly 80 couples dancing the first round.
It will take us a few more hours to set everything up for tomorrow: move into the assigned office space, do a line check, converese with the organisers about schedules and - hopefully - catch up with some of the Grand Slam couples for the first interviews.
We should be able to update you later on who's here (and who's apparently not) of the 24 couples who had confirmed their participation in these Grand Slam Finals. There are some rumours about prominent no-shows, but let us find out for sure ...
Actually, it is only a slightly amended version of what was posted previously. Some of the names were not spelled properly, mea culpa, and one of the pictures was, according to some experts on our staff, dead wrong too: Vadim Shurin and his partner Anastasia Meshkova, RUS. Since we are perfectionists, we corrected both. But we would still like to know: were we all that wrong, or do they appear in both of these photographs? Your comments are appreciated ... No need to register to do so, but our customary rules (profanities, etc.) apply to this blog too!
