The Coach's Corner 04/11/2011

Before this Championship Blog gets filed with all the others of 2011, "The Final Reel" on the recent World Standard will go up here (today) together with two editions of "The Coach's Corner".

Heidi Goetz of WDSF Communications asks renowned trainers and coaches about their views on the competition, couples and trends at different stages throughout the championship.

While the clips on the earlier rounds are not forgotten, it will take a few more days to get them all up on DanceSport Total, the WDSF YouTube channel.

Much More Still To Come 02/11/2011

2011 WDSF World Standard Moscow © Roland The reason WDSF Communications keeps this blog active even four days after the memorable World Standard in Moscow, RUS, is that there are still heaps of unedited material you should not miss out on.

The host broadcaster of the championship, Channel One Russia, very generously provided WDSF with a line cut of their coverage: quarterfinal, semi-final and final. More than one hour of top-quality recordings will still go up here and on the WDSF YouTube channel DanceSport Total. On top of that, there are still many more recordings of the first two rounds, of couples from around the world.

All in all, we can safely make this claim at this point already:

"The 2011 World Championship Standard will go down as the best exposed and most widely watched DanceSport event to date."

Dear Vera, dear GL! 01/11/2011

2011 World Standard Moscow © Roland Thanks for your comments to our post "Moments Like These". Visitors making the effort to provide us their opinion on whatever goes up on worlddancesport.org and, in particular, on the blogs are most welcome.

However, one clarification is in order regarding the concerns you seem to have. Our hompepage is taken up by the "Official Championship Blog" at this moment for reasons of actuality: Saturday's World Standard in Moscow. A blog, or Web log, is kept in a chronological order by definition. The order of the articles is subject to one thing and one thing only: the chronlogical sequence in which they were posted.

In fact, it could be argued that Benedetto and Claudia appeared in the first post yesterday, 31 October, because they came in second in the championship, and that you had to scroll down in order to get to Emanuel and Tania simply because they won.

That last thing we want to do is sound cheeky or refute anyone. Too much other work still remains to be done: reporting on Saturday's champions, the runners-up and all the other couples who also put in brilliant performances in Moscow. By doing so we illustrate best how chronology prevails over any other editorial criteria when it comes to the order of our posts in this blog. Here we go ...

Benedetto Ferruggia and Claudia Koehler, GER, came in runners-up to Valeri - Kehlet, DEN, at the 2011 WDSF World DanceSport Championship Standard in Moscow, RUS.

Heidi Goetz talked to the couple immediately after the presentation of the awards. To quote a sportswriter: "It is the the privilege of champions to accept a defeat with the same dignity and poise as they would accept their victory."
