And a video that was recorded even prior to the official cameraman Martin Branc showing up this afteroon. Guess who did the recording?
Short excerpt from the round one performance by Gruen - Gold Bremen, GER, at the 2012 WDSF European DanceSport Championship Latin Formation.
Another photograph of the German formation team as it is led onto the floor by "Tony" (?), the tiger, and the choerographers/trainers.
The first round of the 2012 WDSF European DanceSport Championship Latin Formation in Vienna, Austria, was contested by the sixteen teams. 12 should get called back for round two. It is scheduled to start after the opening ceremony and some show elements at approximately 20:00 CEST.
While the WDSF Communications team is not able to offer you a live stream of the semi-final and final tonight, the uploading of videos from the Multiversum should be considerably faster than from some of the other competition venues. While everybody is waiting for the show to start, here are a few more photographs of formation teams in round one. All photographs taken by Heidi Goetz!
Petra commented to an earlier post here that the championship "is not shown on TV. Such a pity, I would love to see it!" Wrong! It will be shown delayed in Austria on ORF Sport Plus - plus quite possibly in Germany as well. We'll keep you informed ... And you'll be able to watch most of it on this blog. Tonight!
Even before WDSF Communications has the entire team assembled on location, we are able to afford you a first (video) glance at some of the Round 1 action. By team Vera!
Heidi Goetz took it upon herself to record with her hand-held camera some of the performance. Photographs and everything else have also been produced by Heidi
We tried to capture some of the tension building in a formation team, just moments before it gets onto the floor. In this case it is # 15, Vera Tumen, RUS, certainly one of the teams on everyone's list to make the final and probably more, as the members concentrate in the backstage area ...
Pep talk, stretching! Heading out for Round 1! Let's send in the trainers first .... Or better yet: send the mascots!

Slightly behind the power curve, only on the day of the event, WDSF Communications rolls out the promo reel for the 2012 WDSF European DanceSport Championship Latin Formation on 5 May in Vienna, AUT. Better late than never - sometimes there's other work as well ...

As the first formal rehearsals are about to start at the Multiversum in Vienna - Schwechat, here is the starting list for tomorrow's European Latin Formation.
Before the 16 formation teams get onto the floor and acquainted with the settings around them, it was the turn of the local crew who converted the multi-purpose venue into one that appears to be absolutely perfect for DanceSport.
Heidi Goetz took the first pictures while this work was still in progress.

The 2011 World Latin Formation was contested in Vilnius, LTU, with the outcome that seems to be unwritten law (well, almost) in formation championships: the home team always wins.
Žuvėdra, the Lithuanian formation team affiliated with the Klaipėda University, was able to reverse the order of placing in the 2010 World Latin Formation, winning the gold and leaving Vera from Russia, the 2010 host and champion, with the silver.
The home team always wins!
Does this bode well for HSV Zwölfaxing, one of two Austrian formations in tomorrow's championship, or will it be another three-way fight for the title between Germany, Lithuania and Russia (in alphabetical order)? Here are the results and marks of last year's final in Vilnius ...
1. Klaipeda Zuvedra I, LTU | 1 1 1 2 1 2 2
2. Vera Tyumen, RUS | 3 2 3 3 2 1 1
3. Aachen/Düsseldorf Rot-Weiss, GER | 4 3 2 4 3 4 3
4. Gruen-Gold-Club Bremen, GER | 2 4 4 1 4 3 4
5. Klaipeda Zuvedra II, LTU | 6 6 5 5 5 5 5
6. HSV Zwölfaxing, AUT | 5 5 6 6 6 6 6
WDSF Communications received the videos below from Sergejus Makarova last year. Unfortunately, the broacast was never made available by the organisers.
The first important date in Vienna's particular "Latin Year 2012" is rapidly approaching: 05/05! However, this year will not end according to the Mayan prophecy on 21/12 but on 17/11 already: with the World Latin that is also held in Vienna, AUT.
Regarding the Mayan prophecy and the end of the world on 21 December: there is no reason for anyone to worry.
Don't be afraid!
This information is straight from the source ... and with subtitles in English!
Don't be afraid!
The final countdown to the European Latin Formation is underway and this blog will become very active from 19:00 CEST tomorrow.
16 formations from ten countries will perform their routines at the Multiversum in Vienna - Schwechat.

Thanks, that's great news! :) Meanwhile I enjoy your videos!
