Auf Wiedersehen

Stuttgart, GER - 13 August © Roland The "Live from Stuttgart" blog is about to get archived. Another German Open concluded with the GrandSlam Standard in a packed Beethoven Hall on Saturday - just before midnight. And what a GOC it was in 2013!

The event reached record heights when it comes to the worldwide exposure it was able to secure. Some 26,000 spectators were able to take in the action live at the venue, several hundreds of thousands watched the GrandSlam broadcasts on SWR and on Eurosport 2, and many (sometimes too many) followed the 30+ competitions online, either through the organisers' website or right here on this blog.

WDSF Communications apologises for the fact that our servers couldn't cope with the huge demand at several points on Friday and Saturday. The traffic to worlddancesport.org reached levels that made the site inacceptably slow in loading. Our IT department has taken note and is planning to switch to a cloud-based hosting in the foreseeable future.

The WDSF Communications team working on location produced a record output between 10 and 17 August. Hundreds of photographs taken by Dr Helmut Roland have been added to the Gallery.

Exactly 188 videos have been uploaded to the WDSF YouTube channels www.youtube.com/dancesporttotal and www.youtube.com/thewdsfacademy - and they have been posted here too. All these videos were recorded and edited by WDSF Communications team member Ferran Castañer. That's more than one terabyte of video content altogether!

Viewing was higher than ever: 100,000 views per day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday establish a record benchmark for GrandSlam coverage! The WDSF PD Super GrandPrix coverage peaked as well: close to 130,000 views for the two days!

The Eurosport 2 broadcasts on the GrandSlams that were produced jointly by the host broadcaster and WDSF Communications received excellent reviews and audience figures should soon become available too.
