The first ever World Latin under the auspices of what was then still the International Council of Amateur Dancers, one of the predecessor organisations of WDSF, took place in 1960. which was the first. Paul Hillion and Lucienne Hillion, FRA, won the title.
Here are the World Champions - in chronological order - since 2000. Pay attention to the fact that the years 2002 - 2004 as well as 2012 - 2014 have be taken by DanceSport's only triple-champion couples: Franco Formica and Oksana Nikiforova, GER, and Aniello Langella and Khrystyna Moshenska, ITA, respectively! And observe that Moldovans Gabriele Goffredo and Anna Matus, MDA, stand poised this year to equal the feat!
