Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen

As announced at the 2016 AGM of the WDSF Professional Division in Rome, I am now pleased to call all DanceSport professionals, loyal to WDSF, to take part at the Round Table in Vienna.  Everybody will have the opportunity to express and exchange views and opinions with the colleagues about weaknesses and threats, strengths and opportunities of WDSF, as seen through the eyes of professionals.

The term professional may be assigned, although not strictly limited, to persons whose activities in DanceSport are the main source of the income for their living. This obviously includes mainly DanceSport teachers, trainers, coaches and adjudicators, more rarely officials in national associations and in WDSF, and, last but not least, the athletes in the WDSF Professional Division. The majority of professionals may be simultaneously encountered in different roles, the most common overlapping being the trainer or coach and adjudicator. In virtually all other sports it is out of imagination that the same person could at the same time serve as a trainer or coach and the adjudicator. But in DanceSport the basis of the business model is to earn money mainly by teaching and coaching supported by judging while the income from sponsorships, media and the audience at the competitions serves only to enable the organisation of numerous competitions.

As already mentioned, the purpose of the Round Table is to exchange views in topics relevant for WDSF professionals for their contribution to the further positive development of the DanceSport worldwide. It is expected for the purpose of the smooth organisation the attendants will announce the participation with the Form under the above link. Those who plan to speak are kindly requested to announce the topic they intend to speak about.

There is no intention to take any decisions at the Round Table but the mostly supported views and opinions will be summarized and submitted to WDSF Commissions and WDSF Presidium for their consideration as well as to the WDSF Member bodies who may decide to bring such views forward to the WDSF AGM if appropriate.
