Athlete's Suspension 23/07/2013

Standards of Ethics

The WDSF Presidium has suspended the Russian athlete Andrey Kiselev for one month, commencing July 16 2013 and ending August 15 August 2013, in response to complaints about his clear breaches of Article 2 of the WDSF Athletes Code of Conduct and Standards of Ethics on or about June 22 2013 during the 2013 WDSF European Cup Latin held in Sudak, Ukraine.

Andrey Kiselev has voluntarily admitted to using obscene gestures and language during the competition, has admitted that they were unacceptable, and has voluntarily apologised in writing to WDSF and the Russian WDSF Member body for his actions.

After careful consideration, in this case the Presidium has voted to impose a shorter minimum penalty partly because of the athlete's immediate full apology in writing and his undertaking never to engage in similar behaviour again.  But in reaching its decision, without in any way condoning the athlete's behaviour, the Presidium has also considered his account of how he lost his temper at the competition. The Presidium has commenced investigations of this competition and this investigation has not been completed.

Unsportsmanlike behaviour is intolerable in DanceSport.  This Presidium will treat any such behaviour very seriously.
