And - surprise, surprise - both will compete in DanceSport: Gabriele Goffredo and Anna Matus!
After dancing under the Moldovan flag for the past three years, the Latin couple that is currently ranked as the world # 2 did whatever was required to have Gabriele obtain his Moldovan passport in time for 2013 Cali. That both athletes hold the same passport is a prerequisite for competing at The World Games. Believe it or not, it's the long-established standard in all other sports with a tie-in to the Olympic Movement. Even for their world championships!
So far, the year is going really well for Goffredo - Matus. In April's European Championship in Krasnodar, RUS, they came in third, they won five World Opens, and they placed third and fourth in the GrandSlams Cambrils, ESP, and Hong Kong. Who knows, Moldova might end up with the best ratio of 107 contries when it comes to correlating the delegation size with the number of medals won.
