GrandSlam Moscow: Important 14/10/2016

Irina Petrova © WDSF Communications In the afternoon of Friday 14 October, only two weeks prior to the next GrandSlam leg in Moscow, WDSF President Lukas Hinder and other members of the Presidium received a letter from Irina Petrova, President of the Russian DanceSport Union (RDSU). In it, Mrs Petrova announces that the production of their GrandSlam Latin and Standard, scheduled from 28 to 30 October in the Russian capital, is unilaterally cancelled by RDSU. While the wording was not entirely clear in the letter circulated as an attachment to an email, Mrs Petrova was more explicit in a second email sent to the WDSF Sports Director at 17:05 UTC/GMT.

Hereby I confirm that RDSU is forced to cancel Grand Slam in Moscow, in October, 2016. Other competitions in these dates - will take place.

The Managing Committee takes note of this announcement, considers that with the cancellation RDSU defaults on the terms of a binding contract concluded between WDSF and the Member Body for Russia, and proceeds to find another organiser to host the fifth leg of the GrandSlam Series 2016.

The Managing Committee expects to be able to make further announcements in this matter shortly and advises dancers not to make any arrangements to travel to Moscow for participation in the GrandSlam.
