Live from Copenhagen | From One Year to Another 19/02/2017

Dawid Kaleta - Frida Steffensen, SWE © Roland Yesterday's live webcast covering the decisive stages of the 2017 European Ten Dance was on the verge of making history in the digital media production of DanceSport. First and foremost, because the entire production was done with remotely controlled cameras. A total of six of them were used to show you all possible angles on the action. But in the end it was something minor that detracted from making it an irresistible success: the graphics that were used to show individual scores, standings and results were not what WDSF Communications had in envisioned.

We have been at this for a number of years and we have developed a system that is able to produce the emotional moments that we all appreciate in the media coverage of other sports. That's why we prepared different sets of infographics to be used by the organisers and their host broacasters for all competitions that have a TV production attached (from the World Opens up) to capture these moments and to enhance them with determined information. That din't happen yesterday. The couples in the solo dances of the final remained on the floor after their performances and were framed properly by the cameras, but their individual scores went up somewhere else - as a simple projection onto a screen.

That could well explain that a recording of last year's finals of the European Ten Dance generated more than 5,000 views in 24 hours, while yesterday's live webcast was viewed less than 50% of that.

Here is last year's "Two-in-One Final Reel" ...
