Record prize money is being offered to the top finishers in the 2016 World Latin. With a total purse of over 40,000 €, the Chengdu Sports Administration wants to celebrate the fact that this Championship was awarded to the city for the first time. The purse offered for the World Showdance Latin and Standard is with just over 20,000 € in line with that of previous years.
Chengdu has been an excellent host to top DanceSport events in the past, has put on the World Ten Dance in 2015, has organised World Showdance Championhships every year since 2012 and has held the World Youth Latin and a GrandSlam before that. It has thus become a true "DanceSport City," a title that will get officially bestowed upon it during this year's World Championships held from 24 to 25 September.
