More than four years later, with 73 “Live from …” blogs published, with 4,428 videos uploaded to YouTube, with 15,000+ photos on our website, and with a global audience that is growing into the millions, we can safely say: “It is!”
DanceSport makes for good imagery and stories. And there is hardly a better place to show and tell them than on these modern devices that allow the audience to decide when and where they are best enjoyed.
The WDSF Communications team will therefore continue to produce such content. In fact, it will step up efforts and provide you with even more coverage on its premier events, with a first documentary and, eventually, with a regular DanceSport magazine. On Friday 8 August WDSF will launch DanceSport Total plus on vimeo.com. It will make premium content available on demand … and at a fair price.
Yes, you have heard right! WDSF puts select videos behind a payment wall. For the first time, you are expected to charge your credit card – or your PayPal account – before you can start watching. While this can certainly be considered a major change after all these years of free access on YouTube, it is also one that will help us to expand and perpetuate our service in the future.
The first production that will become available on demand through Vimeo is “Do your dance,” the documentary on the first World DanceSport Games. Then you will be able to take in the decisive stages of the WDSF Super GrandPrix Standard and Latin in Stuttgart, GER. But the early rounds will, as in the past, be uploaded to YouTube.
Over the days to come, WDSF Communications will inform you in detail how content will be split between DanceSport Total (YouTube) and DanceSport Total plus (Vimeo). And you will also learn how best to enjoy our quality content on both platforms.
