Continental Championships for U21 and Senior age categories

WDSF Presidium decides to allow Continental Championships for U21 and Senior age categories as a special project During the COVID-19 pandemic, to help its members and organizers recover and continue to run the WDSF Championships, the WDSF Presidium decided, on proposal by the Sports Department, to design an opportunity for Under 21 and Senior athletes to take part in the WDSF European Championships, not just the Worlds. This resulted in a great opportunity for athletes as well as organizers to be able to participate in and host the WDSF Championships during these challenging times fighting the pandemic.

The WDSF Presidium’s decision turned out to be a good move because today, following the post-COVID situation when the system is slowly returning to “normal”, the WDSF received a lot of requests from athletes and organizers who showed great interest and desire to get the opportunity to indeed organize Continental Championships, specifically for the Senior and Under 21 categories.

Per that resolution, the WDSF Presidium has followed the motion of the VP for Sports and decided to approve the holding of the European Championship for the U21 and all senior categories in 2023 for Standard, Latin and Ten Dances as a special project.

As part of this occasion, the WDSF Sports Department welcomes NMBs to submit their applications for 2023 WDSF European Championships. With a clear goal in mind – improving the competition system, providing greater opportunities for U21 and Senior athletes, and adjusting the competition calendar – NMBs and organizers are strongly encouraged to apply.
