Athletes, like all others, may at times experience a medical condition that requires them to use particular medications. The substances that an athlete may be required to take to treat a condition could fall under the Prohibited List.
International Level Athletes may be allowed to take the necessary medicine by applying for and obtaining a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) from WDSF.
National Level Athletes may be allowed to take the necessary medicine by applying for and obtaining a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) from their National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO).
International Level Athletes who need to apply for a TUE from WDSF must study the relevant documents below. They may request further clarification regarding the TUE application process from the
WDSF TUE Committee.
The latest Guidelines for Therapeutic Use Exemptions and International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions can be found on the World Anti-Doping Agency website.
