Grand Slam In Full Swing 20/08/2011

Benedetto Ferruggia and Claudia Koehler, GER © Rob Ronda Round three has just been completed here at the Beethoven Hall, where the "double star" couples have finally joined in on the action too.

Benedetto Ferruggia and Claudia Koehler, GER, will try for their third consecutive Grand Slam win in Stuttgart. No other couple has yet accomplished the perfect hattrick. Football/hockey parlance applied to DanceSport! God, where will it end?

At this morning's GOC press conference, the President of the German DanceSport Federation, Franz Allert, announced that anything other than a German victory tonight would have to be considered a surprise. The overall GOC medal tally for the host country is already exceptionally good, and the Grand Slam Standard could well add another one or two.

WDSF Communications will start with summary reporting on the Grand Slam from round 4, starting in 30 minutes. In the meantime we suggest that you watch our Live from the GOC programme (with a special guest appearance by Benedetto and Claudia). It ties you over perfectly until then.

Coming Up Next! 20/08/2011

2011 Grand Slam Stuttgart Latin © Roland About to be posted: the solo dances in Thursday's final of the 2011 WDSF Grand Slam Latin are now ready. As we upload them from the press centre here, why don't you take a look at some of the photographs that the WDSF Communications photographer Pro Dr Helmut Roland has taken of the finalists. Go to the Gallery!

And here's the last competition dance of Alexey Silde and Anna Firstova. Alexey and Anna danced the GOC Professional Open Latin and bid farewell to competition.

After the presentation of the awards and yet another GOC title, they took to the floor one more time to bid farewell from competition ...

Cercate insieme la vittoria! 20/08/2011

The Italian "Cercate insieme la vittoria!" is the appropriate motto for a couple in DanceSport: look for victory together. Paolo's friends who edited the career review for the magic night in Caorle, ITA, on 27 July had it included in their video, we just had to take up on it here too. Here's our "almost live" programme ... Finally!

Mission Impossible! 19/08/2011

Paolo and Silvia © Rob Ronda The co-ordination of our "Live from the GOC" programme was a challenge. As it now turns out, it was downright mission impossible. The 30-minute magazine will be available in the very near future. As a recording! We apologise to everyone who's still waiting ... It should be posted by midnight!

Its production also kept all members of the WDSF Communications team here busy over a much longer period than initially expected, and it kept us from being able to upload the remaining videos of the solo dances in yesterday's GS Stuttgart Latin final. We'll catch up on that tomorrow.

What remains to be done for us is record the final of the GOC Professional Open (open to the world - but with one world as now-show) ... Everyone is insisting that our one (1) camera be in the Beethoven Hall at 23:25 ... Apparently, there is a surprise announcement made right after the awards presentation too.

Comments coming in to DanceSport Total ... 19/08/2011

Just a few ...

Comment on your video: Try with the victory! Paolo Bosco - Silvia Pitton

I saw the premiere in ITC Caorle this summer... I together with all the others started crying... Will truly miss them!

Our Reply

Why not watch another homage to two great champions tonight? From 21:00 on DanceSport Total?

Please provide your videos from the GOC for germany, too :)

Our Reply

The broadcaster SWR holds all the rights for Germany much beyond the air time of its programme tomorrow evening ! https://www.swr.de/sport-extra ! SWR allows that the WDSF videos are unblocked in Germany from Sunday 21 August; and that's a nice gesture by any standard! So: watch SWR tomorrow, watch DanceSport Total from Sunday or Monday!

What's Still to Come ... 19/08/2011

Later this afternoon we will upload the solo dances of yesterday's Grand Slam Latin final. Another twelve clips with stunning moves by the our finalists. When they will be posted exactly we don't yet know for sure as we are also preparing for tonight's live stream "Live from the GOC" ... Aired under LIVE on our YouTube channel DanceSport Total!

We are not entirely sure whether the programme will be schedulable at all. All the guests that are invited obviously run on their own schedules and these are never fully compatible with one another ... That seems to be quite normal for the GOC, but it is certainly a nightmare for the producers! We have now set the starting time back to 21:00. And in the worst of cases, we will record and upload the show as we do the competition videos.
