Being In Two Places ... 04/12/2012

GrandSlam Final 2010 Shanghai, CHN © Arita ... At once! And all from the convenience of your home!

Given the time difference between Shanghai, CHN, and Bremen, GER, you should be able to make two appointments on Saturday 8 December. No problem whatsoever! The first with the GrandSlam Final Latin in Shanghai and the second with the World Formation Latin in Bremen. The schedule of the GrandSlam Final reports on the  "Live from Shanghai, CHN" blog will be announced shortly.

Gruen-Gold Bremen © Radio Bremen In terms of the World Formation Latin, host broadcaster Radio Bremen TV will stream the semi-final live and worldwide from the ÖVB Arena. The live webcast is scheduled for 8:25 p.m. local, 7:25 p.m. UTC/GMT, when the first team of the semi-finalists is supposed to enter the floor.

The final of the World Championship will then be live on Radio Bremen TV in Germany from 11:15 p.m. (10:15 UTC/GMT) for 60 minutes. Since Radio Bremen TV's footprint covers much of Europe through ASTRA, the programme can possibly be received in your country too. Information on the satellite frequencies will be published here.

Wrap For Now 03/12/2012

Showdown in Shanghai With the WDSF Communications team's photographer, videographer and editor moving on to their next gig in China, we conclude the coverage on this BRILLIANT World Standard with this post. For now!

Much of the recorded footage from Melbourne still needs to be edited into a full HD "Final Reel." And that should happen sometime in the foreseeable future.

Coming up next is another blog: Live from Shanghai, CHN, with the GrandSlam Finals 2012 in Latin and Standard. It will go up later this week and report on the season-ending match-up between the 12 TOP-RANKED COUPLES in each section that have been invited to the SHOWDOWN IN SHANGHAI on 8 (Latin) and 9 (Standard) December. RSVP here!

Prof Helmut Roland has forwarded some of his very best photographs taken at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne on Sunday 2 December. We have added them to the Gallery and post some right here. All these couples will be in Shanghai too.

The Other World Championships 03/12/2012

While the Standard couples danced their shoes off in their 2012 World Championship downunder, two other Worlds took place in Europe. WDSF Communications received photographs from the World Senior I Latin in Rouen, FRA, and a report by Verena Sulek about the WDSF PD World Ten Dance in Milan, ITA.

Below are some of the finalist pictures that Marius Mutin sent from Rouen. Another three can be found in the Gallery

2012 WDSF PD World Ten Dance

2012 WDSF PD World Championship Ten Dance The participation of 19 couples from 9 countries was quite encouraging for PD Ten Dance championships. The Championship was held in the Sheraton Hotel at the Milano Airport. It took quite a lot of time and energy for the PD Sports Director Joachim Llambi and for me to resolve misunderstandings regarding the obligations of the organisers of PD World Championships towards the participating couples during the past week . However, at the end of the day the Championship was well organised by a team of six Italian professionals (Valloni Alberto & Corbetta Sonia, Gioncada Antonio & Zone Roberta, Fogli Mauro & Dal Zotto Arianna) working together jointly, and the atmosphere in the hall was really great. Sutu OK was featuring as adjudicator while I was asked to represent PD in participating together with the FIDS President at the opening ceremony and at the prize presentation.

Brilliant! 02/12/2012

Benedetto Ferruggia - Claudia Koehler, GER © Roland If there ever was another WDSF World Championship that had a similar television production attached to it, there is a very good chance that it was in 2004 or 2008, with Melbourne as a host as well ... What we have seen today was simply outstanding work done by very creative people behind the cameras, by an inspired director, by a production crew that must have taken a liking to DanceSport - maybe over the years.

Someone wrote on our facebook page: "... superb camerawork which highlights the dancers, the beauty of DanceSport and the athletic performances to a maximum, excellent presentation, ..." The WDSF Communications team concurs and thanks everyone involved for making this happen. It was a privilege to stream such a work of art LIVE to the world. Brilliant!
