Freestyle is rapidly developing as a bona fide discipline of DanceSport. Bringing it into the Competition Rules of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) seemed therefore appropriate. The IDSF/WDSF General Meeting followed the motion of the Presidium and voted in favour of amending the Competition Rules accordingly.
From 1 January 2012, Rule 5 (13) will govern these competitions with wording that is identical to the one in the current Operating Policy for Freestyle.
The inaugural WDSF World DanceSport Championships Freestyle Standard and Latin take place on 24 and 25 September, respectively, 2011 in Beijing, CHN. The Operating Policy will still apply for both competitions.
The WDSF Sports Director, Marco Sietas, introduces the Judging System 2.0, an improvement over the "New Judging System" used in GrandSlam and other competitions.
