Not A Farewell! 17/08/2011

Paolo Bosco - Silvia Pitton It was 27 July, a Wednesday, when two of the most charismatic champions in the history of DanceSport announced that their competitive career would come to an end. Right then – and right there! In Caorle, a coastal resort on the Adriatic Sea in their native Italy! Their families and their friends had shown up. In all, well over 1,000 people lived one of those magic nights that no one will ever forget. Above all, it will remain the moment of true glory in the lives of two athletes who have won it all: Paolo Bosco and Silvia Pitton!

WDSF Communications is posting this news item from Stuttgart and the German Open, where many were still expecting Paolo and Silvia to compete in tonight’s Professional Open. Well, both of them are here and still dancing. On the “Live from Stuttgart” blog they perform prominently in two of the videos on the Viennese Waltz workshop. This morning they recorded a short lesson for the WDSF DanceSport Academy at a studio here. But for tonight’s Professional Standard final their number will not be called. “We are still doing a few shows, but we will not compete any longer,” says Paolo. “For us the focus will be on teaching and training others, other couples we hope can follow in our dance steps,” that is how Silvia looks at the next stage in their remarkable dancing career.

“What we also would like to do is thank everyone who shared their passion for DanceSport with us,” Silvia continues. “We have been able to thank everyone in our extended families on 27 July, but there are many more we would like to show our gratitude to.”

Silvia went on to suggest that we post this short item on the website, together with a video that friends had produced and superbly edited for the magic night in Caorle. Their long quest for sporting excellence in just over 18 minutes … For everyone ton enjoy the best Standard couple of recent times/ever!

More on Paolo and Silvia will soon be announced on the "Live from Stuttgart" blog! Remember: this is not a farewell from DanceSport, merely a change of direction in the career of two dancers!

WDSF Communications just needs to tie up a few more loose ends and … Stay tuned! The clip will go up in the next post!
