Platja d’Aro Hosts a Spectacular DanceSport Festival

Platja d’Aro, Spain, 24 – 26 October 2025 – The picturesque coastal town of Platja d’Aro welcomed past weekend an impressive gathering of DanceSport athletes, with 850 couples, over 1,700 athletes representing 37 countries. Over the course of three days of competition, the event attracted approximately 1,500 spectators, who enjoyed a vibrant program of competitions, performances and gala moments. Enthusiasts of the DanceSport community had the opportunity to follow the event live on streaming through Local TV Costa Brava channels.

The WDSF competition weekend, spanning Friday 24th to Sunday 26th October, brought together dancers from across the globe, delivering a spectacular display of talent, skill, and passion. Across Standard, Latin, Ten Dance, and Choreographic Latin events, competitors of all ages and levels showcased memorable performances, from Rising Stars to Senior Champions. Local authorities and city representatives expressed their enthusiasm and support for the WDSF competition weekend in Platja d’Aro. They highlighted the positive impact of the event on tourism, the local economy, and the city’s sporting culture, while emphasizing their commitment to continue backing such events in the future.

Imma Gelabert, Tourism Counsellor, stated: "We are extremely happy with the number of participants year after year. Even with only one World Championship and four WDSF competitions on the same dates, hotels are fully booked and entries are high."

Marc Medina, Sports Counsellor, also commented: "Platja d’Aro brings back the festival we had many years ago. We will continue supporting the organizers every year. We love sport, especially when it happens in our city."

Ruse Celebrates the 40th Edition of its Traditional International Tournament

Ruse, Bulgaria, 25 – 26 October 2025 – The historic Arena Sports Hall in Ruse hosted, one more year, over 350 dance couples and around 150 solo female participants during the two-day tournament. The event attracted around 9,000 spectators, providing a festive and high-energy atmosphere.

The event was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Ruse Municipality. Among the distinguished guests were several members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Chairman of the Rotary Club, who presented the awards to the competition’s finalists. The Standard dance finals were accompanied by a live performance from the Ruse Big Band.

Competition Highlights

The competition weekend developed with outstanding performances in Latin and Standard disciplines, showcasing both established champions and rising talent. Dancers competed across multiple categories, from Youth and Under 21 to Adult and Rising Stars, delivering high-level performances that highlighted technical skill, artistry, and determination.

Magdeburg Shines with Elegant Ballroom Competitions

Magdeburg, Germany, 25 October 2025 – At the elegant Maritim Hotel, the ballroom hosted over 60 athletes from six nations for the WDSF Open competitions: 16 in Latin and 12 in Standard. The final rounds took place during an evening gala attended by 550 spectators, accompanied by live music from the Starlight Band. The event was sold out, creating an outstanding and energetic atmosphere.
