DanceSport Federation of Seychelles becomes new member of WDSF

The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) is pleased to announce the official admission of the DanceSport Federation of Seychelles (DSFS) as its newest National Member Federation, marking a historic milestone in the expansion and global reach of DanceSport.

The inclusion of Seychelles, a nation of 115 islands scattered across the Indian Ocean, reinforces the WDSF’s vision to develop and unite the sport across every region of the world, proving that talent and passion know no geographical boundaries.

A historic milestone born from conviction

The story of the DSFS began on a March evening in 2025, when a small group of visionary individuals gathered in a local dance school with a shared conviction: that Seychelles possessed the talent and only lacked the formal structure to match it. Legally registered on September 2025, the federation worked tirelessly to build a solid foundation, achieving official WDSF membership in less than a year.

Speaking on this historic occasion, Daniella Rose, President of the DanceSport Federation of Seychelles highlighted the profound impact of this recognition:

"This represents a defining moment for DanceSport in our country. Today we take our place on the international stage. We have always been small in size, but never small in spirit. This recognition affirms something we have always believed: talent does not ask permission from geography."

For the Seychellois community, membership signifies much more than official status, it creates a genuine, direct international pathway for local athletes, coaches, and clubs to integrate into the global DanceSport system under international standards.

Strategic priorities and long-term vision

Now officially part of the WDSF family, the DSFS is focusing its efforts on establishing sustainable governance and long-term athlete development. In the coming weeks, the federation will formally register its clubs and athletes, implement WDSF licensing, and build structured pathways from grassroots level to elite competition.

To achieve this, the DSFS is prioritizing the strengthening of its internal structures by supporting local clubs, educating coaches and adjudicators, and establishing transparent selection processes. Equal focus will be placed on grassroots development, introducing DanceSport in schools and local communities across the islands to ensure young talent can seamlessly progress from their first steps to international competition.

Looking outward, the federation aims to position Seychelles as an active regional hub by welcoming international athletes and coaches while building strong ties with neighboring organizations. Ultimately, the DSFS harbors the ambitious dream of seeing Seychellois dancers compete under their national colors at World Championships and Olympic events.

"We want to build something that will outlive us. Small islands have always dreamed big, that ambition is part of who we are, and it is what drives us to keep reaching further," added DSFS President.

A message to the community

Addressing dancers, coaches, and supporters across the nation, as well as the global DanceSport community, Daniella Rose, DSFS President, shared a message of gratitude and inspiration:

"To every young dancer in Seychelles: dream bigger than your circumstances. Train with discipline, compete with courage, and believe that your island should never define the size of your ambition.

To the global DanceSport family: Seychelles is ready to be part of the journey. We come with humility, ambition, and a genuine desire to contribute. We came from the sea, we are ready for the world stage, and this is only the first step."

Welcoming Seychelles to the global family

Welcoming the new federation, WDSF President Shawn Tay commented:

"We are delighted to welcome the DanceSport Federation of Seychelles into our family. Their rapid journey reflects extraordinary dedication and vision. We look forward to supporting their growth, elevating the sport in the region, and seeing Seychellois athletes shine."

With this new membership, the WDSF continues to strengthen its international presence, uniting communities through the power, discipline, and beauty of DanceSport.
