In Memoriam: Ivan Despotov
The World DanceSport Federation learned with sadness of the passing of Ivan Despotov; President of the Bulgarian DanceSport Federation, today 30 January 2026, a respected administrator and official who dedicated years of service to DanceSport.
Ivan Despotov was elected President of the Bulgarian DanceSport Federation in 2016 and remained a central figure in the leadership of Bulgarian DanceSport community. Through his work, he contributed to the development of the sport, the strengthening of organisational structures, and the support of athletes, officials, and organisers within our community.
At international level, Ivan was an active WDSF adjudicator and official for more than a decade, serving at World and International Open competitions across Europe and reflecting his long-standing involvement with the WDSF community.
He was recognised for his professionalism, consistency, and commitment to high standards of officiating. Colleagues valued his practical approach, reliability, and dedication to DanceSport.
The World DanceSport Federation extends its sincere condolences to the family of Ivan Despotov, to his friends, and to the Bulgarian DanceSport community.
May he rest in peace.
