Upholding integrity in modern athletics extends beyond technical regulations; it relies heavily on creating environments where individuals feel safe, respected, and empowered. Titled Ask the Expert: Athlete Voice, Trust and Integrity in Sport, this panel discussion focuses on the essential role that psychological safety and open dialogue play in supporting clean performance.
The session will examine the factors that enable athletes and support staff to speak up, seek advice, or raise concerns without hesitation. Panellists will address common barriers to reporting non-compliant behaviour and discuss practical methods to cultivate transparency within sports organisations.
Multi-Disciplinary Expert Panel
To provide a comprehensive perspective, the webinar brings together leaders from athlete advocacy, compliance research, and anti-doping investigations:
- Kelsey Erickson – Senior Director of Athlete Services, Safe Sport & Compliance at USA Cycling
- Cleopatra Borel, OLY – Four-time Olympian for Trinidad and Tobago and Assistant Coach at Virginia Tech
- Guillermo Martinez – ITA Intelligence and Investigations Officer
The discussion will be guided and moderated by Anita Hartung from the ITA Education Team. Drawing on both academic research and firsthand competitive experience, the panel will share actionable strategies for athletes, coaches, and administrators alike.
