A Symphony of Strength and Grace: WDSF Highlights from Larnaca and Wuhan
The weekend of DanceSport action once again demonstrated the global reach and growing momentum of the discipline, with events taking place across Europe and Asia. From the Mediterranean atmosphere of Larnaca, Cyprus, to the dynamic and large-scale staging in Wuhan, China, athletes, organisers, and officials came together to celebrate performance, precision, and international connection through dance.
Across both venues, the competitions reflected not only sporting excellence but also the continued expansion of WDSF events in diverse cultural and geographical contexts, reinforcing the sport’s role as a truly global platform for artistic and athletic expression.
CYPRUS OPEN 2026 IN LARNACA
Larnaca, Cyprus – 17th and 18th April 2026. The Cyprus Open 2026 took place at the Multi-functional Center for Social Activities and Welfare of Larnaka Municipality, providing a central and accessible venue for one of the country’s key DanceSport events of the season.
The competition welcomed 320 participants, who delivered a total of 900 performances, showcasing a broad spectrum of categories and levels. The event attracted approximately 300 spectators, who created a vibrant atmosphere throughout the competition days.
The presence of distinguished guests further highlighted the importance of the event at a national level, including: The Mayor of Larnaca City, members of the Board of Directors of the Ministry of Sports and the Cyprus Parliament.
The Cyprus Open continues to grow as a significant fixture in the national DanceSport calendar, combining strong local participation with an increasingly international outlook.

WUHAN – SATCHI CUP 2026
Wuhan, China – Wugang Sports Center. The 8th edition of the Wuhan WDSF World DanceSport Open, also known as the “Satchi Cup”, took place at the Wugang Sports Center, once again confirming its position as one of the most significant DanceSport events in Asia.
This year’s edition brought together athletes from 12 countries and regions, with a total of 220 WDSF registered athletes, forming 110 couples across the competition fields.
The event attracted an impressive audience of approximately 2,500 spectators, reflecting the strong and growing interest in DanceSport within the region.
The competition was attended by a wide range of distinguished guests and institutional representatives, including: Mr. Crossen Yinguochen, President of DSA and CDSF, Ms. Yuan Yuan, Vice President of CDSF and Mr. Zhang Erzhou, Vice President of CDSF, among other representatives.
During the opening ceremony, representatives of the Wuhan Municipal Sports Bureau delivered a formal welcome speech, highlighting the long-standing significance of the event, describing DanceSport as:
“A symphony of strength and grace, a poetic language connecting to the world”, emphasizing its cultural and sporting value.
The speech also underlined Wuhan’s continued commitment over the past eight years to supporting the development of DanceSport, promoting international exchange, and ensuring high-level organisational standards for athletes from around the world.
The organisers expressed their commitment to providing the best possible competitive environment, encouraging athletes to perform at their highest level while also experiencing the cultural richness and vitality of Wuhan.

Together, both events reflect the continued development of DanceSport as a global discipline that bridges cultures, generations, and continents through performance, dedication, and shared passion.
