A Vibrant Celebration of Energy and Unity at the WDSF World Disco Championship 2025

Blankenberge delivered an unforgettable stage for the 2025 WDSF World Disco Championship, held on 22 November at the dynamic De Sportdoze venue. With 211 registered athletes from 8 countries, the event brought together a vibrant international community, each athlete contributing to a day filled with athleticism, artistic flair and the unmistakable spirit of Disco.

Almost 800 spectators filled the stands across the event, their enthusiasm fuelling the performances and creating an electric atmosphere from the first round to the finals. Their passion, combined with the warm hospitality of the Belgian hosts, ensured an exceptional championship experience both on and beyond the competition floor.

Key Results of the Competition

The 2025 WDSF World Disco Championship delivered a full day of high-intensity performances, impressive athleticism and fiercely contested finals across all divisions. From the early rounds, it was clear that the standard would be exceptionally high, with athletes showcasing remarkable precision, creativity and stamina on the floor. As the competition progressed, the audience responded with unwavering enthusiasm, celebrating every standout routine and supporting dancers from all eight participating nations. The finals, in particular, offered a thrilling display of musicality and showmanship, culminating in the crowning of the new World Champions and bringing the championship in Blankenberge to an electrifying conclusion.

Distinguished Guests Recognise the Discipline’s Growth

The event was honoured by the attendance of prominent representatives, including from WDSF with its General Secretary Sergey Nifontov, whose presence underscored the global relevance and continuing development of the Disco discipline. Two representatives of the local Belgian government also attended, demonstrating strong regional support for major international sporting and cultural events.

Reflecting on the success of the championship, Johnny Lekens, Co-President of the Belgian DanceSport Federation, shared his appreciation for the athletes and organisers whose efforts made the event possible:

“Hosting the WDSF World Championship Disco in Belgium was more than an honour, it was a celebration of passion, creativity, and unity. This event proved that dance sport is not just competition, but a global movement that inspires and connects people everywhere.”

A Championship That Reached Audiences Nationwide

The 2025 WDSF World Disco Championship concluded with a strong sense of pride and celebration, both for the newly crowned medallists and for the discipline itself, which continues to grow in visibility and artistic depth within the WDSF family.

The enthusiastic Belgian audience, together with the excellent work of the organisers, ensured an unforgettable edition in Blankenberge. Reflecting on the event, WDSF President Shawn Tay highlighted the significance of this championship for the continued development of Disco within DanceSport:

“The energy and creativity showcased in Belgium highlighted the unique power of Disco Dance to unite people. The athletes brought an inspiring passion to the floor, and the vibrant response from the audience showed just how strongly this discipline resonates with today’s youth. This championship truly demonstrated the dynamic future of DanceSport.”

As the curtains closed in De Sportdoze, the spirit of unity, dynamism and innovation that defines Disco shone brighter than ever.
