Malta Welcomes Athletes from 25 Nations for the 2026 Malta DanceSport Cup
Malta – 6–7 March 2026. The Maltese archipelago became the meeting point for the international DanceSport scene last weekend, as the 2026 Malta DanceSport Cup brought two days of competition to the island. With the dance floor at the centre of attention, Malta welcomed athletes, officials and adjudicators from across the globe, confirming its growing role on the DanceSport calendar.
Competitors from 25 nations travelled to take part in the event, a strong sign of the Cup’s expanding reach. Over the weekend, 150 couples and more than 80 solo dancers performed in a packed programme that highlighted both technical precision and performance character across multiple categories.

A Weekend of Sport and Development
The Malta DanceSport Cup offered more than just competition. On Sunday, the programme continued with an international training camp, giving athletes the chance to work directly with renowned coaches and to focus on the details that separate a good performance from an outstanding one.
Throughout the weekend, the event was marked by a smooth and professional organisation, paired with the kind of hospitality for which Malta is well known. Judges, officials and athletes alike praised the atmosphere created by the local organisers, as well as the overall standard of the event.
Participants stayed at the Radisson Golden Sands, where the Malta DanceSport Association arranged dedicated accommodation packages and ensured competitors had access to the facilities required for an intense weekend of performance and preparation. Between sessions, many visiting dancers also found time to discover the island, adding a memorable off-floor dimension to the experience.
Malta Strengthens Its Role on the DanceSport Map
The strong turnout and positive response to the event further underlined Malta’s growing presence on the international calendar. With the support of SportMalta and Visit Malta, the 2026 edition once again demonstrated how high-level sport and destination appeal can successfully come together.
The Malta DanceSport Association expressed its satisfaction with the outcome of the competition, reaffirming its commitment to bringing top-level DanceSport events to the island. With athletes from 25 nations, consistently high standards on the floor, and encouraging feedback from participants, Malta continues to build momentum as a reliable host for future international competitions.
WDSF President Shawn Tay highlighted the value of events like this, describing Malta as an increasingly important meeting point for both competition and athlete development.
