A Showcase of DanceSport Brilliance Across Continents: Highlights from Hong Kong and Vila Nova de Famalicão
Hong Kong Welcomes Asia’s Finest at the DSA Championships and Hong Kong Open 2025
Hong Kong, China, 6–9 November 2025. The Queen Elizabeth Stadium Arena in Hong Kong came alive with rhythm, grace, and international camaraderie as it hosted three major competitions over four days, including the WDSF Hong Kong Open 2025.
Organised by the DanceSport Association of Hong Kong, China, these events showcased the continent’s rich talent pool, uniting dancers from across Asia in a vibrant display of artistry and athleticism.
A Celebration of Participation and Passion
The competition opened on 6 November with the DSA Asian Solo Single Dance Championship, featuring 128 solo athletes. The following day, 61 couples took to the floor for the DSA Asian Single Dance Championship, continuing the celebration of technical excellence and creativity that defines Asian DanceSport.
The momentum carried into the WDSF Hong Kong Open 2025 on 8 – 9 November, gathering a total of 340 solo athletes, alongside couples representing nations including People’s Republic of China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand or Uzbekistan. The event drew approximately 2,500 spectators, filling the arena with energy and applause.

Distinguished Guests and International Recognition
The competitions were honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests, including the Vice President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Hon. Kenneth Fok BBS JP, the President of the Chinese Taipei DanceSport Federation, Ms. Mary Yeh, and more representatives from different international federations.
Their attendance reflected the event’s stature and its role in strengthening the network of DanceSport federations across the region.
Vila Nova de Famalição Hosts the WDSF World Championship Ten Dance Under 21
Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal – November 2025. At the Pavilhão Municipal de Vila Nova de Famalicão, the atmosphere was equally electric as the city hosted the 2025 WDSF World Championship Ten Dance Under 21, held in Portugal for the very first time.
Organised as part of the 11th edition of Famalicão Dança, the event was delivered by in partnership with the Federação Portuguesa de Dança Desportiva, and supported by WDSF. With a long tradition of excellence, Famalicão Dança continues to combine international title events with Portuguese national ranking competitions, cementing its position as a landmark in the country’s DanceSport calendar.

An International Gathering in Portugal
A total of 32 couples from 17 nations competed for the podium, cheered on by more than 1,000 spectators during the thrilling finals. The presence of the Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão added an official touch to the evening.
Organisers expressed their pride in hosting such a prestigious championship, emphasising the warm and inspiring atmosphere created for all dancers. The carefully designed stage and lighting setup turned the venue into a true celebration of dance and performance.
A Weekend to Remember
From the energy of Hong Kong’s Queen Elizabeth Stadium to the elegance of Vila Nova de Famalicão’s Pavilhão Municipal, this November weekend once again underlined DanceSport’s universal appeal and ability to unite cultures through movement.
Both events, spanning Asia and Europe, showcased not only world-class performances but also the spirit of respect and passion that continues to drive the DanceSport community forward.
Reflecting on the weekend, WDSF President Shawn Tay remarked:
