The inaugural 2026 Brisbane World Breaking DanceSport Festival takes place on 17–18 January 2026 at the historic Brisbane City Hall. Organised by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) in collaboration with DanceSport Australia, this landmark Festival represents a defining moment for Breaking in Australia and Oceania, bringing together elite international athletes, emerging talent, and a celebration of Breaking culture.
Positioned on the global pathway towards Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Festival showcases the sport at its highest level while reinforcing Brisbane as a key destination for the world’s top B-Boys and B-Girls.
Competition Overview
The Festival features WDSF Breaking for Gold (BfG) World Series competitions across multiple categories:
- 1 vs 1 B-Boys, Adult and Youth
- 1 vs 1 B-Girls, Adult and Youth
- Team 3 vs 3, Mixed
Athletes compete for world ranking points, contributing towards qualification for the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026. Participation includes the world’s leading breakers, who bring experience from World Championships, Continental Championships, The World Games, and other premier WDSF events.
Youth Engagement & Cultural Legacy
Beyond competition, the Festival integrates educational and community programmes in partnership with Police Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC) and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
