Newcomer of the Day

Alexey Silde - Anna Firstova, RUS © Orzol The adjudicator with the shortest time on the job is Alexey Silde, RUS. Officiating at international DanceSport competitions is not new to him, but he’s only been at it for all of two years. Until then, he was a top-level athlete who excelled on the floor like very few others.

Together with his partner Anna Firstova he won three consecutive World titles in Latin. He and Anna were the first Russian couple ever to do so! Their first title dates back to 2009 in Maribor – their last one to 2011 in Luxembourg, as professionals already. They also won the GrandSlam Series 2009 and 2010 with all firsts in the regular legs and nearly perfect scores in the finals.

After less than a year spent as professionals, Alexey and Anna decided to end their active careers and turn to coaching the next generation of Russian champions – and to adjudicate.

This is Alexey’s first outing in a GrandSlam competition. It will certainly be an experience for him to officiate such an important competition with the Judging System 2. But above all it is a privilege for the couples to be judged by someone who was their peer only a short while ago.
