Below are the 11 couples that are present in Shanghai for the "Final Showdown" in Latin. We have mentioned that Marius-Andrei Balan and Khrystyna Moshenska, GER, were not able to travel for health reasons. A number of couples that were perennial finalists in the Shanghai Showdown did not qualify because they failed to enter the required minimum of four regular legs. Some due to illness, others for what could best be described as "political reasons" - "stable politics" had kept them out of determined GrandSlams. Too bad!
The name of the Chinese wildcard couple will still need to be added before the first round gets underway in about four hours from now.
By far the largest contingent is from Russia. Four couples in Latin, three in Standard! Quite a strange coincidence as the Russian National Member Body's membership with WDSF is currently under suspension. At least this clearly shows that the suspension does not affect the athletes.
