This "Walk of Fame" should not be confused with the one in Hollywood, where brass stars with the names of celebrities from the entertainment industry are embedded on the sidewalk of the two main boulevards. This one is a concept developed by the Chinese DanceSport Federation - at least that is what we assume - it was first used by the organisers of the GrandSlam Finals in Shanghai and perfected here in Chengdu, during the last editions of the annual DanceSport Festival that featured WDSF World Championships.
The concept is straightforward: you roll out the red carpet, you ensure proper illumination and you use music and hype at high decibels to get everyone's attention. Once a crowd has gathered on boths sides of the carpet, you send the dancers down this "Walk of Fame." It works every time!
