The first Beijing International DanceSport Open will certainly be an event of superlatives. The line-up of competitions staged over two days, on 24 and 25 September, ensures that already.
The highlights are the first ever WDSF World DanceSport Championships in Freestyle Latin and Freestyle Standard. As if that were not enough, the 2011 Asian Championships in both styles are held concurrently at the Beijing Ditan Gymnasium.
Organisers of the International Open are the China DanceSport Federation, the Social Sports Administrative Centre, the Beijing Sports Bureau and the Beijing Dongcheng Sports Bureau.
Top-ranked couples in Latin and Standard have been invited by the organisers. The record purse offered to semi-finalists and finalists should make the inaugural edition of the World Freestyle a fierce contest as well as a standout event. WDSF hopes to be able to make video recordings of the freestyle premiere available here from next week.
The "Semi-Final Reel" of the 2013 WDSF GrandSlam Latin in Hong Kong is now available. All ten heats danced by the top 12 couples on 11 May.
