One of the most important Russian holidays is the "Day of Moscow" - always celebrated on the first weekend in September. Moscovites and visitors get to enjoy cultural and sport programmes in various places around Moscow. The Moscow Government and the Moscow Sports Department organise the presentation of 40 different sports at the Luzhniki Centre.
The first event was a 45-minute show presenting 3 couples in Juvenile. And the first winners ever were the meanwhile successful Youth couple Sergey Ruzhkov and Marina Zakharova.
The original idea to present DanceSport was a show programme on a very high level, embedded in maximum 45 minutes.
The formula, developed over the last seven years, for these presentations is to invite 6 top couples from all over the world, all of them national champions, World Champions, winners of World Cups. They perform in all 5 dances of their discipline, danced in a group as well as solo, do a show, and changing the dress for every dance.
In the last years the organisers Valery and Galina Gulay could welcome very popular couples: Vescovo - Törökgyörgy, Bosco - Pitton, Silde - Firstova, Langella - Moshenska, Kosaty - Glazik, etc.

To present the Latin dances as well, a formation of Russian Juvenile and Junior couples is invited. Timur Imametdinov and Ekaterina Nikolaeva, RUS , Russian and European Ten Dance Champions are to be seen in their Latin show. Also Daniil Ulianov and Irina Gogoladze, Russian Champions in Ten Dance and winners of the World Cup in Ten Dance, will present a Latin showprogram.
As a special highlight the winners of the recently held Russian Freestyle Championship Vladimir Karpov and Maria Tzaptashvili and Fedor Polyanskiy and Dina Akhmetgareeva show their new routines.
