2018 AGM Wrap-Up 21/06/2018

It was one of the biggest General Meetings ever, with 54 countries physically represented by a delegation and with a record 14 countries delegating their votes through proxies. Almost against all expectations: there was serious concern in the lead-up that "expensive Switzerland" would adversely affect attendance.

In the aftermath of Sunday's historic meeting, reports on the websites of the National Member Bodies (NMBs) take up on the 50+ motions that were presented, some carried and some not. The Presidium's Motion "Olympic Aspiration" was discussed at length and - after some NMBs presented a last-minute amendment - was not voted on in the end.

As the website of the German DanceSport Federation - www.tanzsport.de - reports: "Hinder adjourned what was his last meeting as chair shortly after 19:00, visibly relieved."

Even the International Olympic Committee commented on the WDSF AGM and the Forum in its Olympic Highlights: Speaking at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF)’s Forum held at The Olympic Museum, President Bach underlined the excellent cooperation with the IF and the debut of breaking, a WDSF discipline, at the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018.
