2nd World Championship in Senior II Latin 09/02/2011

P1020044.JPG

Antwerp, "sporthoofstad 2013", hosted the World Championship for Seniors over 45, dancing Latin. It was an open Championship, that means, no restricted number of couples representing a country. 70 couples entered the first round, majority of them originated in Europe, but also representatives from Japan and USA could have been welcomed by the audience.

It was the 2nd official World Championship Senior II Latin, up to now this Championship was only held for Senior I Latin. So it was a further highlight for Senior couples, but this was also motivation and a new beginning for some Senior couples, who fullfilled the criterias for Senior II, to change the category.

12 couples qualified for the Semifinal, representing 7 different nations. This proves very clearly how popular this category in many countries meanwhile is. The level of the couples in this Semifinal was very similar, so it was a very difficult job for the judges, especially if there is one partner very dominant in the couple.

The six couples qualified for the final came from Finland, Germany, Spain and Russia.

Places from 3rd to 6th had already been announced. Only two couples are left on the floor. Who is going to be Champion ?
